Filmed in Minnesota\, THE GREAT WAR will be presented at the Historic Orpheum Theater just one day before the 101st anniversary of Armistice when fighting stopped at the 11th hour\, of the 11th day\, of the 11th month in 2018. A post-film Q&A will include the director as well as Bates Wilder (Lt. William Rivers) arriving from Boston\, Hiram A. Murray (Private John Cain) of Los Angeles\, and Aaron Courteau (Sgt. Allistor Richardson) traveling from Minneapolis.  \nFilm Summary:  During the last days of the Great War\, Lt. William Rivers (Bates Wilder) leads a squad of U.S. troops behind enemy lines to locate a missing platoon of African American “Buffalo” soldiers. Lt. Rivers must overcome his own trauma stemming from the horrors of trench warfare as well as his own beliefs about the roles and rights of African American soldiers. In order to complete his mission\, Rivers must find a way to unite the men regardless of the color of their skin\, and attempt to survive the last great battle of the great war. \n \nAbout the Filmmaker: \nBorn in the” Great American Desert” of South Dakota\, Steven Luke comes from Cowboy country. A filmmaker who studied history\, Luke pursued his love of films while in college and was instantly engaged in the world of story and picture. After graduating from South Dakota State University in 2009 with a BS in History\, he instantly set out to pursue his dream and goal of making world class movies and films.
